  1. Kathy’s Story. My story begins in 1953 where I was born in Concord, New Hampshire to my Mom and Dad, Virginia Nye Gray and John Herd Gray. I was born at Concord Hospital and lived at 75 North Spring Street, Concord, NH. From the day I was born through elementary school I have so many wonderful memories of New Hampshire and New England. I went to Kimball Elementary School and remember walking every day to school which was about 10 blocks away. All of our winters had 4-6 feet of snow. The plows would come out in the middle of the night and clear the sidewalks and streets, so everyone could carry on. I used to walk with a group of friends and we had kids who stood at each corner responsible for getting us across the street. I loved this part of the morning. So cold, bundled up with my coat, hat gloves and boots.

As soon as I got home every day. I would immediately change and go right back outside. I would go to White’s Park which was about 6 blocks in the other direction from our house. It was a beautiful park with a outdoor pond that had a place for all of us to skate, toboggan, sledding and ice hockey. I skated and skated every day until it was super time.
